Tiraspol unites for peace, independence in anniversary expo

TransnistriaA new gallery exposition in Tiraspol is bringing locals together for peace and independence. The art exposition is dedicated to the 70th birthday of Leonid Pirozhenko and the 17th Day of Independence of Pridnestrovie. A total of 180 works are on display at the Tiraspol United Museum.

TIRASPOL (Tiraspol Times) - On 30 August 1990, just three days before the 17th anniversary of Pridnestrovie's declaration of independence, the Tiraspol United Museum openened its art galleary for a large exhibition named “Stopped flight” with a total of 180 works on diplay.

The exhibition is dedicated to the 70th birthday of Leonid Pirozhenko and the 17th declaration of independence.

" - Leonid Andreevich always had a blessing attitude to all the citizens of Pridnestrovie," said Svetlana Pirozhenko, the artist's widow.

" - He had an opinion that our land despite all the difficulties is blessed by God, because we stay alive despite all the blockades and we develop. He was sure that Pridnestrovian people are courageous and talented, that they deserve all the best."

Representatives of the City Administration, deputies of the Supreme Council of Pridnestrovie, rector of the University Stepan Beryl, the chairman of Tiraspol City Council Alexander Shcherba, representatives of the Education Ministry, Maria Pashchenko – Minister of Education, members of the Pridnestrovian Union of Artists, directors of the School of Arts and of the Republican Theatre, Advisor to the President in the questions of science, education and culture Elena Bomeshko and others were present at the opening of the exhibition, news agency PMR News reported.
