Tiraspol's brandy exporter Kvint opens 110 year anniversary expo

TransnistriaOn 6 September 2007, the Tiraspol-based brandy distillery Kvint turns 110 years old. The plant was founded in 1897 when Pridnestrovie was part of the Russian Empire. An exhibition is underway at Tiraspol's main museum.

TIRASPOL (Tiraspol Times) - For 110 years the Kvint distillery in Tiraspol, Pridnestrovie's capital, has produced and exported some of Eastern Europe's best brandies.

Renowned as quality brand in what is now the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries, Kvint is one of Pridnestrovie's best known exporters. The factory, which was founded in 1897, turns 110 years old on 6 September 2007.

The Tiraspol Wine & Brandy Distillery "Kvint" currently employs 796 people. The plant produces some fifty different products.

On the occasion of the 110 year anniversary, Tiraspol's main museum - the Historic Regional Study Museum of Tiraspol - has opened a month-long exhibition showcasing the history of Kvint and its importance for the city since the distillery was founded.

The exhibition is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5 a.m., except on Saturdays. Entrance is free.
