Runner-up concedes, congratulates Smirnov on victory in free and fair fight
Following the 10 December 2006 presidential win by popular incumbent Igor Smirnov, the runner up conceded defeat. Closest rival Nadezhda Bondarenko, the Communist candidate, congratulated Smirnov with his win. She admitted that the election had been free and fair. [more]
