Transdniester seeks international recognition
The parliament of Transdniester, or Pridnestrovie as it is officially called, passed a motion urging its counterparts in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine to recognize the statehood of the country. The move comes less than a month a referendum in which 97.2% of the population voted for independence. 94.6% rejected unification with Moldova. [more]
